Telkom Kenya Makes its Debut V.J. | , 3:47 après-midi sep. 17, 2008 2008-09-17

A new partnership will be signed between France Telecom’s Orange and Telkom Kenya. This agreement will bring the latest mobile phone technology in Kenya where users will be now able to choose what design suits them best.

The company, Telkom, is not more that 11 months old. Under the new agreement, Telkom will have a new name, Telkom Kenya, and an orange ribbon as its new brand. The relatively new company is set to present its mobile phone service in the near future.

The company comes to install a new competition in the Kenyan telecom industry as it will try to overwhelm the two leading telecom companies in the country, Safaricom and Zain.

Kenya practically means a battleground for Orange and Vodafone. Safaricom is 40 per cent owned by Vodafon while the new Telkom Kenya is owned 51 per cent by Orange. However, the country will have access to more sophisticated mobile phone technology.
