T-Mobile and 3 UK have announced that their joint network infrastructure program will be completed by the end of 2010. Smartphone users will benefit from increase coverage in the UK.

"As high-speed mobile broadband becomes increasingly adopted for fast, simple Internet access wherever you are, network performance becomes an increasingly important competitive differentiator”, says Emin Gurdenli, technical director at T-Mobile UK.

The program was launched in December 2007 when T-Mobile and 3 UK have started their equal stake joint venture company Mobile Broadband Network with the intention to create a better 3G coverage of Britain.

A new contract worth over 400million pounds has been agreed between Mobile Broadband Network, T-Mobile UK, 3 UK and Nokia Siemens Networks. The contract will “include the provision of 3G radio network infrastructure, mobile network planning, implementation, optimization and maintenance” writes Computer Business.

“The growth in mobile broadband usage clearly provides challenges for networks. They are challenges we have anticipated and intend to keep on anticipating with our further investment in technology and services", Gurdenli added.
