Symbian Foundation launches Horizon Application Publishing Program V.J. | , 9:42 matin juil. 17, 2009 2009-07-17

Symbian Foundation recently showcased an application-publishing program dubbed Symbian Horizon. The application is meant to provide assistance to developers that work on applications for the Symbian OS. Additionally, by using the program, developers will also be able to offer their work through global stores, thus reaching more users around the world.

According to Softpedia, the Symbian Horizon will incease profitability from the development of application for the Symbian OS. Developers participating will benefit from access to a wide range of services related to the development, distribution and marketing of mobile software solutions.

“Our goal is to encourage robust application development, increase revenue and application diversity in mobile stores, and improve the consumer experience – all for the greater benefit of the mobile ecosystem,” said Lee Williams, executive director of the Symbian Foundation. “And we can help North American developers reach markets in Asia and Europe where the Symbian platform is widely known and loved. We are building a self-sustaining ecosystem that will drive the next generation of mobile and developers that join now are aligning themselves with the future of mobile.”

Currently the Symbian Horizon is still in development. However, the program is expected to become available in October this year.
