iPhone lowers price in UK V.J. | , 11:25 matin avr. 17, 2008 2008-04-17

Mobile phone operator O2 announced a diminish of prices for iPhone by some £100. Their decision surely brings speculation possibility. People may now believe that a 3G version will be available in a few months.

Althrough the 16GB iPhone remains at its initial price of £329, its less memory loaded version of 8GB is now cheaper. First it came at a price of £269 but in recent days the price was cut down to £169.

Apple may launch a 3G high-speed wireless version in collaboration with O2 in June, or this is how the rumor goes. In any case, according to CNET News, they may produce up to eight million handsets in Q3.

O2 reports that iPhone was an imperious asset for gathering new valuable customers. More that 60% of new customers came to O2 services mainly because of iPhone. A smart move, they will surely increase client numbers but this is somehow strange. No company cuts prices unless they are at the point of bankruptcy, but in the same time this can and probably is a smart business maneuver to sell as many iPhones as possible thus opening the way to a 3G version.
