iPhone gets global WiFi access V.J. | , 3:35 après-midi mai 5, 2009 2009-05-05

iPass has introduced a client for the iPhone which enables users to access thousands of WiFi hotspots around the globe that are covered by its services. Additionally, iPass has also added new clients for Symbian handsets and Mac users.

The new Mobile Office client support for Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch is for people who already use the iPass service. The service aggregates access to numerous networks worldwide with a single subscription payment. At the moment, iPass owns about 100,000 WiFi hotspots in 92 countries.

People who already own an iPass subscription can access their laptop or PC and download the client from Apple’s App Store and use the same credentials on their iPhone.

“After you've entered your user credentials, that's it. It will automatically use iPass if a Wi-Fi hotspot is available, or will use your 3G cellular connection of not. It takes that complexity away from the user," said iPass senior product marketing manager Matt Crooke.

Also released are updated clients for Symbian handsets with Nokia’s Series 60 user interface and Apple’s Mac OS X platform.
